Baltal Route (14 km trek): –
- Shortest Distance: The Baltal route is only 14 km long from Baltal to the Amarnath Cave, making it the shortest trekking route compared to the Pahalgam route.

- Helicopter Access: Helicopter services operate from Baltal to Panjtarni, reducing the travel time to just a few minutes.

- So maximum no. of pilgrims prefer pahalgam route for trekking.
- The journey begins from Pahalgam or Nunwan with a 16 km drive to Chandanwari. From there, a trek of approximately 11 km leads to Sheshnag, offering scenic views along the way.
- The next stretch is a 17 km trek to Panchtarni, which serves as the final base before reaching the sacred Amarnath cave. After a 6 km trek from Panchtarni, pilgrims arrive at the holy cave to witness the revered Shivlinga.
- Upon completing the darshan, the return journey can be made either through Baltal or back to Pahalgam/Chandanwari, depending on the pilgrim’s preference and convenience.
